Antique Victorian Rocking Horse With Horsehair Mane And Tail & Pull Sled Option

Offered for purchase is a antique rocking horse with pull sled option. This amazing piece is truly a gem from a bygone era. Covered in brown fabric and featuring a genuine horsehair mane and tail, the horse sits atop a wood pull sled with metal wheels which could be removed from the rocking mechanism if desired. Both sled and rocker are a worn red in color with white pinstriping.
This piece is in overall fairly good condition considering its utility and age. The horse is still firmly fixed to the sled. There are several holes in the fabric as can be seen throughout the photos. The left eye is missing as shown in the sixth photo. While several pieces of the bridle remain, the majority is gone. Both the sled and rocker retain a good deal of the original paint, however, there is some loss in areas and the color has become muted over the years. All four metal wheels are present. I do not have the nuts and bolts that attach the sled to the rocker but those can be easily found and are not entirely necessary if using the horse as a display piece. While the horse is sturdy for its age and was originally meant to be a toy, I would not trust it to be solid enough for play in present day.
