Description
Early RPPC view of a herd of walrus in the ice flows near Nome , Alaska . This image can be also found with Beverly Bennett Dobbs credit (1868-1937) who operated a studio in Bellingham , Washington for 12 years at one time in with F.F. Fleming as Dobbs & Fleming. In 1900 he moved with his new wife Dorothy Sturgeon to Nome , Alaska as part of the gold rush continuing to ply his photographic trade. In 1903 he partnered with A.B. Kinne as Dobbs Kinne Studio ( Nome ). Dobbs is known for his portraits of the Inuit Eskimo peoples and in 1909 he opened the Dobbs Alaska Moving Picture Company said to be the first filmmaker to shoot north of the Arctic Circle . As he continued to explore the film medium, his still work was sold to Lomen brothers, who as was common in that era published many of his images with their imprint. By 1915 Dobbs had returned to Seattle , Washington as Dobbs Totem Film Company. All of my RPPC's range from as-is to excellent conditions and may have wear on edges and corners, surface scuffs, fade, creases, bent corners, small tears, warping, etc. being from typical vintage age. See high res scans for condition. If there are any major flaws not seen in scan I'll list in description. Shipped securely and safely in protective plastic cover inside stiff cardboard mailer.
